Alan is a fiction writer who has gotten away with his wife to try and reconnect with his muse. Just as the writers block lifts, things take a bad turn. His wife gets away from him. Just vanishes. If that wasn't bad enough, the thriller/horror novel he is working on starts to happen. Sometimes a struggling writer just can't catch a break.

Alan Wake promises to be a "psychological action thriller" with a focus on story and character development and hints of sandbox style world. The developers have also indicated that light is the most powerful weapon in the game, and that the character will need to be resourceful in using it against Alans enemies.

Mr. Wake has certainly found himself in the midst of a nightmare. Will the search for his missing Mrs. bring him peace?
