Platforms, puzzles, princesses, peril, Persian motif. There's all sorts of P words to find in Ubisoft's new installment of the Prince of Persia franchise.

There's a world falling into darkness, the evil god Ahriman is attempting to break through the walls of his prison and rain corruption on the world. Working to thwart this deviant diety is a magic wielding princess/priestess (more P's!) and clawed, sword-swinging hero with advanced degrees in acrobatics. Together, they'll heal the land and bring peace (P's).

Following the Prince of Persia tradition, this game is a third person Action/adventure 3-D platformer with a focus on exciting visuals and cinematic action. In this game, combat is rare and always an important event. Players spend most of the game running, jumping, swinging, climbing, and sliding to adventures.

Please. Prance on platforms. Pick-up princesses. Produce Peace. Play Prince of Persia.

Reviews

[ 8.0 ] Gamespot says "Prince of Persia's shimmering veneer and joyous platforming will cast a spell on you."

[ try it ] Crispy Gamer says "I must admit, I let out an involuntary laugh when I heard the title character in Prince of Persia let loose with the line, "either of us could die any minute." This laugh came not because the line was a bit hackneyed (it was) or badly delivered (it wasn't). No, I laughed because the one thing that sets Prince of Persia apart from other platform games -- more than anything else -- is the fact that the main characters are never in danger of dying "any minute.""

[ 8.2 ] Gamer 2.0 Reviews says "The Prince is back and he’s changed a lot in the past few years. Ubisoft is back with a new Prince of Persia adventure that looks and feels a bit different than when you last saw him during the Sands of Time trilogy. It seems that the developers have taken this game in an interesting new direction, but does it succeed or fail?"

[ 7.7 ] ActionTrip says "In this game, the player is caught in an epic battle between the forces of light and darkness - between Ormazd, the God of Light, and his brother Ahriman, the God of Darkness. Arriving just in time to witness the destruction of the legendary Tree of Life, our hero joins Elika to heal the world from the evil Corruption."
