Reviews

[ B+ ] 1UP says "At times, it feels like I actually flew these war-torn skies over Europe, thanks to plenty of previous combat flight simulator experience via titles such as Aces Over Europe, Jane's WWII Fighters, Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3, and of course, IL-2 Sturmovik. That last one is the cousin to IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, an accessible (and wildly entertaining) console combat flight simulator. Birds of Prey is squarely focused on providing air combat thrills; there's no grandiose storyline, no CGI cut-scenes, and no million dollar ad campaign -- just airplanes shooting each other and resulting in magnificent displays of explosions and flying bullets (with a few bombing missions thrown in for good measure). There is more than enough here to give fans of World War II combat aircraft a solid product that is worth having on their shelf."

[ 8.6 ] IGN Xbox 360 says "In 1C and Gaijin Entertainment's IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, a console version of the acclaimed PC series, the intensity of World War II-era aerial battles is convincingly delivered with a nod to historical realism and atmosphere not generally seen in console-only flight games. There's no gimmick to try and lure players in. It's just solid flight mechanics, plenty of missions in nicely modeled, real-life planes, and a surprising amount of depth across the game's difficulty modes. "

[ 9 ] GamesRadar - Reviews says "This iteration of the series has already earned premature sneers from the PC hardcore but the console version of IL-2 Sturmovik wraps the PC’s flawless handling model within a beautiful new engine which makes flying a joy in itself. Like taking a car for a spin around the track in a sim racer, it’s fun soaring about just for the thrill of flying under Sturmovik’s real-life rules and taking in the astonishing sights."
