Reviews

[ 9.3 ] IGN Wii says "In case you miss our weekly reviews of new Guitar Hero games, Activision's franchise is quite popular, and always in rotation from one big release to the next. Being there on day one with the original Guitar Hero on PS2 I'm of the firm belief that too much of a good thing can turn into a bad thing, and then eventually nosedive into the ground faster than the Tony Hawk franchise did. Sorry, but it's true. On the other hand, however, there are more and more new people picking up Guitar Hero with every version that hits, and on Wii it's selling to a huge audience at an astonishing rate -- faster than the other systems. Guitar Hero may seem like the "same old song and dance" for many hardcore gamers, but there's no denying that the series can still capture people in 2009 like it did in 2006, and GH5 brings it bigger than any other version to date. "

[ A ] 1UP says "When Rock Band 2 came out, with its ability to import almost every song from the original Rock Band and its unswervingly regular DLC, I didn't think I'd ever have a reason to go back to Guitar Hero. But Guitar Hero 5's dedication to getting players of every skill level jamming together and a renewed emphasis on compatible DLC has me rethinking my Rock Band exclusivity. "

[ 9 ] GameDaily Reviews says "Five years running and, somehow, Activision pulled off the unthinkable. Guitar Hero 5 feels just fresh as it did when the series debuted on the PlayStation 2. Credit the developers at Neversoft for including just the right amount of features to attract newcomers and dedicated shredders, thanks to a massive set list and user-friendly options that allow anyone to step onto the stage and rock the night away."

[ 8.9 ] IGN PS3 says "Activision and Neversoft have been running the Guitar Hero show for some time now. The group took hold of the franchise with Guitar Hero 3, expanded the game series to a full band with Guitar Hero World Tour and offered up a handful of spin-offs along the way. With that much experience, you'd think the mega-publisher would learn how to put together a winning product. And you'd be right. Guitar Hero 5 is the best addition to the franchise in a long time.
