[ B- ] 1UP says "As I wrote in an Afrika-related blog more than a year ago, I'm capable of enjoying "real" videogames -- the ones with guns and/or muscly bald guys -- as much as anybody, but my particular tastes drift towards games that are heavy on freedom and relaxing exploration. To me, that's real escapism. Natsume and Sony's Afrika pretty much fits the bill, and though it's a little underwhelming after three years of expectations (it was revealed in a trailer before PlayStation 3's launch in 2006), by itself, it's a rather interesting game that aims for realism while appealing to all ages. "

[ 7 ] IGN PS3 says "You’ll know, if you’ve ever visited Africa, just how captivating a place it can be. It’s exotic - the kind of place not everyone is able or inclined to visit, but it’s a part of Earth that has the power to remind you that you’re alive."

[ 7 ] GamesRadar - Reviews says "Sitting in a bush on the actual Serengeti, waiting to get a snap of a giraffe roundhouse kicking a wildebeest is – as we can only imagine in our crazy world – kind of exciting. The tension of seeing beasts in the wild and their unpredictability makes for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, if not a potentially dangerous one if a lion happens to sneak up on you. But slouching on your sofa as you wait for a hippo to yawn – which you will – is not."

[ 7 ] GamesRadar - Reviews says "There isn’t that much game here, at least not in the traditional rapid-button-pressing sense (and certainly not in the even more traditional shooting-animals-with-rifles sense), but there is a lot of virtual nature to be seen and appreciated in an “ooh-look-aah” kind of way. Fortunately, there’s some reason to Afrika’s aestheticism: you take the role of a freelance photographer/researcher, either a French chap called Eric or a girl called Anna, and are commissioned to take (camera) shots at the wildlife, doing your best to meet clients’ demands for specific compositions and content."
